We did a 7 mile walk around Stainforth today.... started at 7.30am and was back to the van at 10.30am for soup and pate butts:). Went to Settle for a look round but too cold for an ice cream!!

Then back to Sabden to tend to my pony then home for a chill out afternoon (which includes a bottle of wine) and Venison, mustard mash, green beans & carrots! YUM!:)

Listening to Aretha Franklin & basically chillin out.....

How about you guys?????????....................

Venison, mustard mash, green beans & carrots! i ave had beans on toast

I ventured into the wilds of Doncaster to buy provisions and then tonight naturally with wine, cooked a Med style omelette, Onion, Capsicums, Chestnut Mushrooms, Lardons, Kabanos sausage, chorizo ...topped off with a herb de Provence egg mix and finished under the grill with Mozzarella cheese.

Best bit is I have enough left overs for a pizza tomorrrow :D

Channa my friend, would you like to come and have dinner with us??? .........sorry should I say cook for us... the med style omelette sounds fab!!!:D

We've spent the day recovering from a brilliant day we put on yesterday for my Mum's 90th birthday. We held an 'open house', from 10am till 8.00pm, and she had 32 visitors..who kept us busy replenishing the buffet table, and their drinks.
Instead of buying her presents, she requested that I get a collection box and ask guests for donations to the air-ambulace....a great 'cause' which was supported generously by everyone. We will know tomorrow when they come to collect..how much we got for them.
I'll post some photos..I love the one of my Mum with the balloons...and what about the four generations of girls..Mum, me, my daughter & grandaughter.

Well tomorrow, in the morning I will buy a ciabatta and slice it lengthways, slightly toast it.

Meantime melt a bit of butter in the pan add garlic and sieve it after a few minutes.

Brush the bread with the butter mix ,add the sliced chorizo and chopped Kabonos ,,,add a bit of mozzarella on top, a few cherry vine tomotaoes drizzle with a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar and whack under the grill..

Delicious I promise ;)

And for gods sake dont get me started on curries ..

Or better still eggs of May ...that is interesting ...messy but beautiful and a mere 700 years old recipe. Real French Medieval food:eek:

We were at Darlington station this morning to wave off my son and his wife as they set off for Heathrow to start a new life in Australia. So it's been an emotional day for me and now I'm travelling with them in my head.. daft I know Think I need a glass of something to chill!!

Have a glass of my chardonnay my love xxxx

We can't beat the events posted above - but envy the new life in Oz, something we've also thought about but are too old for.

Our gas boiler died a week ago leaving us with no heating or hot water, promptly followed by a power cut leaving us completely in the dark too during the week.

As we're hoping the plumber will replace our boiler ASAP we've been shamed into sprucing up the house in preparation so it's been a day with dusters, vacuum cleaner and a trip to the dump. Had it not been for yet more snow then we'd have preferred a camping trip to Pembrokeshire. Maybe next weekend if the weather's more spring-like, but there doesn't seem to be much chance of that!

Understandably emotional, I have never visited Oz, but my Mum and Dad did upon their retirement.

Fwiw My Dad has minimal diplomatic skills etc, Working in mines might have something to do with it...Anyway I remember vividly when me and my brother paid a visit upon their return....

My Dad's words were something along along the lines of...

'' I don't know what you two buggers are playing about at, if you could see what me and your Mother have seen..you would be there like a shot unless thers summat wrong with you.

Take the best of what was great in Britain, take the best of the US and you have Australia was his thoughts...

On tat basis, they will be ok, pointless telling you not to worry, but for sure they have an opportunity of a very enriching life from what I have been told.

And remember play your cards right no snow Winter in OZ ;)

good luck

Well it was a bit different here. Currently a few 100 kms outside of Broken Hill looking for some opals in a place named White Cliffs. (maybe you google these two spots) Its bloody hot and dusty, shot a Roo for lunch, cooked it on the fire and enjoyed a good feed. Washed it down with some very cold beer and at sundown curled up in the swag for a beautifull night under gods canopy.
