On the BBC One Show tonight they mentioned a new website/phone App that has mapped the world as a 3mx3m grid giving each square a unique three word identifier. 57 trillion of them!
This is a hugely powerful tool for meet ups, whether this is in a lay-by/carpark or in the middle of the outback, to meet friends etc at a crowded show/event or share a complicated route.
Postcodes are hit and miss, coordinates or map refs require everyone to have a map or know how to work them, whereas this is as simple as sharing 3 words.
Try it and see.
As it uses google maps it’s pretty easy to follow.
Tom Tom, Land Rover and Mercedes are apparently already in discussion to build the three word functionality into their Sat Navs
Anyway, if interested the website is what3words | Addressing the world and the App can be searched in App Store or GooglePlay and downloaded for free.
I can see this having many uses.
