Scotland seems to be getting their act together Heres the coordinates 57.520570 -4.069249 and their website for those of us without Facebook
I thanked Highland Campers by email and directed them to this thread and Jo Page who answered after reading this post asked me to assure everyone that they do give a thorough demo to all their customersIts good to think that all the people hiring from Highland Campers will be shown a good disposal point and how to use it![]()
There is a cost to providing such facilities
Well there’s always going to be that one person who has to put down anything that looks like a step in the right direction I for one absolutely don’t mind paying a fiver to top up and empty and like you I have gone into dealers and asked most are obliging but if they don’t want paying I always stick something in their on the counter charity box I never expect anything for nothing and don’t feel like I am being robbed I am simply paying for a service that I need.actually there isnt, at least not a cost that can be measured - its probably a fraction of a penny
Anywhere that trades in motorhomes is going to have a sluice anyway - there are several amusing youtubes of dealers (or at least their staff) emptying cassettes of motorhomes which have been traded in so the cost comes down to the cost of 2 gallons of water to flush (no water rates in scotland for domestic purposes but I dont know what the business rate is)
Its not that I expect stuff for free but I dont expect to be ripped off and I certainly dont want to have to be gratefull for allowing someone to rip me off.
£5 is at least a high commercial rate and from the video they expect you to go into the shop and spend money as well!
During the summer I called in at a dealer to ask if I could empty my cassette there was no problem, he offered water and said I could stay overnight if I wanted and didnt mind being locked in - I have done this in several places and never been asked for money so lets not get too excited about someone wanting to take £5 out of our wallets
