Hi, see motorhome knowledge thread & look up roadside assistance. This may help with recovery options. Regards graham/kath:confused:
Also the 35 will probable either stand for35cwt or 3.5ton gross

Take it a public weigh bridge they will give you a ticket and it dosent cost much

Hi .
The 35/10 is indeed a 3.5 ton van
however this is its maximum permitted weight including any load it is carrying, so is that what the recovery firm wish to know?
lift the bonnet and on the right hand side panel (near the battery) you will see a small metal plate fixed.
On this plate are the weights regarding your van.
max front axle, max rear axle, max Gross(3.5 ton)
also on there is the weight of the van when built probably a little over 2 ton, so it may be that figure that the breakdown firm require, however, normally when anyone refers to the weight of a van its the maximum gross weight to which they refer, eg it's a 3.5 tonner.

hi kell , thanx for your replies the weight they want is the actual weight it is not what it could be fully laden it is what it would be at the time of recovery.the idea of going to a weigh bridge sounds good as i would then have a reciept to prove the weight.

I was told by a recovery company that my van was over 3.5 even thou it had the plate stapmed on, After that I always carried the ticket from the weigh bridge, they put the vehical details on and stapmed it, The RAC also questioned the weight, accepted it because I had it on paper.

Paulamy Weight

I had our 21ft Chausson put on a weigh bridge as I wanted to know its weight in running trim, with a full tank of fuel and half a tank of water and all our normal stuff i.e. pots & pans, china, etc it came in at 3.1tonnes - The gross is quoted at 3.4t so we only have 300kg to spare, which was my concern.
With a 132ltr water tank, once thats full and a scooter on the back we would soon be below 100kg spare - quite close for comfort!
If you find a weigh bridge don't just drive on, do try one axle at a time so you can check the overall weight distribution.
