Hi
Can anyone recommend the Weber Q 'Barbecue' Grill?
I know it could be a little heavy but it seems it might do a good job when on the move and also at home.
Thanks in anticipation.

Can definitely recommend the Q1200.
We have one for our van and it is very good indeed.
We have an external BBQ point and use refillable cylinders and find it works well. Have altered the hose with a connector and a length of gas hose.
Not sure how long the canisters for it would last, so that might be worth looking into.

Hi
Thanks for your reply.
I have now ordered a Weber Q1200 but am a little confused on how to use this from my refillable cylinders.
Apparently the fitting into the Weber are American so I am told that unless I purchase the Weber Patio bottle fitting at £50 and then cut the regulator off I won't be able to obtain the fittings!!
Did you just cut the regulator off the pigtail that goes into the canister and then fit a female connector, manage to obtain a new pigtail or is there a better way?
I would appreciate your advice.
Thanks & regards.

You can buy the converter connector screw thing on line but to be perfectly honest, they are useless. The small canisters only allow the burner to run at half power. we have a q1200 in the van and have a 3.9kg small dumpy cylinder which has a regulator on it with 3 meters of pipe with a push fit male connector on it and the q1200 has a small hose fitted to it with a female push fit, so when we stop, we put the bbq out and clip the connectors together to use it then remove the cylinder to store. ive put volcanic rocks in mine to soak up the fats and it acts like a smoker now, best bbq we have ever had, its even better than a real coal one as mine smokes like billy and gives the smoke effect.

One further tip if you want to leave it all outside and guarantee never to get stolen, Just buy a long plastic covered chain and a lock. run the chain through the bbq, the cylinder, the table and something on your van like the steadies or wheel. No thief is going to carry a table, chairs, bbq, cylinder and anything else in one go, lol. Best anti theft ever. At night I leave everything outside and run the chain through everything and never had an issue.
