Decided that I will wax or whatever you do to protect my new motorhomes paintwork, I’m ashamed to say something I’ve never done to any car or motorhome.
Anyone recommend a decent wax / paintwork protector ?
I assume polishes are abrasive so bearing in mind my paintwork is new what do I require to protect the paintwork.

As it is a new motorhome have you thought of something like paintseal direct

I use autoglym high resin polish ,google it and see the result steve I am sorry to say I couldn’t commit.what I can say is the dirt and rain does run off it

Agree. I had a car I’d bought coated with some supposedly magic stuff by the dealer at vast expense and it disappeared on the first trip to the car wash. Autoglym does last better, but it’s not a permanent finish so you’d have to redo it every so often.

Mark was it scotsgaurd?theres not many last long imho

As already mentioned autoglym resing then topped off with autoglym extra gloss to seal it then when I wash it I use autoglym aqua wax afterwards which keeps it nice and shiny and easier to wash when it needs washing, ido this with all our vehicles

I use Autoglym Super Resin Polish.

This works brilliantly on all surfaces including acrylic windows.

There's a company who renovate tired paintwork on motorhomes, can't remember their name, but I had a quote for their services. I chatted to them about aftercare and they say they've tried many different products to maintain the paint finish on motorhomes. Autoglym SRP is the best product in their opinion.

When we bought our car it had been done with Diamond Brite and paid for by a customer who backed out of the sale. So we had the benefit I have been very surprised in 5 yrs it has only ever needed a hose off when already wet I'd probably pay to have a car done myself now

One thing i will tell you from working in m/trade is dont over clean or polish cars/vans as to much leaves scores and round circles in the paintwork, clean and polish no more than twice a year, spring and autumn, and do wash underneath.
Remember rot comes from the inside to outside thats why i have never washed a car in my life.

Collinite 476S Supercoat Double Wax

This is great stuff, expensive ,but worth it.I use it once maybe twice a year.

P.s this would come after the resin polish

I once paid extra for GardX Vehicle Protection on a new Vauxhall i bought GardX | Vehicle Protection, Maintenance & Insurance Products for the Motor Industry

What an absolute waste of money streaky, blotchy and whatever they put on the windscreen was bloody awful and i couldn`t see a damned thing when it rained.

Whilst it was dry it looked ok but as soon as any dew / condensation / rain got on it the problems really showed up.

Might have been something to do with the numb-nut east european valeters they had who were just joking and larking about every time you saw them.

The Vauxhall dealer wasn`t interested and said it had been applied as per the GardX instructions and was down to unusual / inclement weather conditions.

I rang GardX who said that the treatment on the windscreen could be removed using screwed up newspaper but that took weeks.

A lot of these 'slave trade' car washes use a very strong alkaline prewash solution. Gives a very quick dirt and WAX removal for them. Stips the paint work. I've noticed how it has marked the black window rubber surround on my neighbor's car.

Wasted my time reading this thread, still haven't been given good
advice on what to use on my hairy legs.

Folk call wax a polish which is incorrect,a polish removes a layer of paint ,the trade use g3 or 6 with a mop,at home most will use t cut,a wax is a finish sealer to keep water and uv light out.
You may wax a car once or twice a year but dont over polish or you will soon be through to the primer, esp at the edges of panels etc.

Talking about over polishing l remember using solvol autosol chrome cleaner on a regular basis on my Honda cb550 k3 back in the seventies, one day a copper plating appeared, true. Four pipes ruined.
