Try any local electrical wholesaler.

The glands available from electrical wholesalers are good quality, but you may strike a problem if your van has a sandwich style roof - two skins separated with an inch or two of foam - because the threaded section isn't long enough. There are ways around it - by cutting the inside hole with a larger diameter holesaw than the outer one and scraping the foam out to leave just the outer skin - but there is an increased risk of messing the job up.
The type shown on the eBay advert would work though because it can be glued to the roof regardless of thickness.

watertight cable glands

We use these all the time in the marine world. For thin metal use marine cable glands and for much thicker metal or metal & insulation use BULKHEAD
Glands which are good for 30 or 40mm walls. You can normally find a supplier by searching MARINE ELECTRICAL SUPPLIERS,but if you encounter
problems I would be happy to get them from my supplier.

If you have a panel van, just drill a tight hole for the cable in a roofrack mounting hole rubber blanking grommet (if available). That's what I did. Works perfectly at no cost.

I have now bought a couple from a local electrical wholesaler, 94p for the pair Thanks for all the help and advice
Jim.
