water pump

We had our van in for a few repairs yesterday and the husband went to collect it. When I met him to collect him from our storage site I notice the tap was up and could hear the pump running. He hadn't noticed!!!

The pump was obviously still running when I heard it but will it be damaged from running dry?? It will have been on for about 30 mins at least or a couple of hours if it was left on when they replaced the cartridge in the tap

It's too cold to fill the tank at the minute to check especially with the van in storage so just a bit worried now it might fail on us?

Any ideas?

I rang the servicer and he apologised he did open the tap whilst handing the vehicle back but that means the pump was running no longer than 30 mins. Hopefully it will still work but I will have to wait til we have it home next to find out. Fingers crossed, the guy is confident it should be ok- time will tell

If it's a surflo don't worry, they can run dry without damage being done. If it's a submersible one then you might not get away with it. Good Luck.

its not a surflo its a white one with a red end. It was still sounding or just hope i don't have to take it back again to get it fixed! But i will make sure i test it well before its required!

Can I ask a question as it's a similar problem?

I have no running water from the taps on my LMC Liberty even though the pump can be heard running and the tank has about 20 litres of water inside it.

I took details of the pump and it's called a SHUR FLOW diaphram pump. My brother said the diaphram may be damaged. I do not know so can anyone help. Would it be possible to buy the part that's damaged?

kindest regards to all of us

Check the see through plastic bowl as mine cracked in the frost !
Thanks for that I will do it in the morning

I took the pump off the mount and disconected the pipes and wires. However, it has no inspection bowl etc and I womder now if it should just have been primed sowater could be lifted up the suction tube and into the pump. I'll have a lookat my other LMC Liberty on Sunday on my return from Church.

God Bless

Most piumps you can purchase spare parts for.
