Water pump problem ?????

Hi,help needed please!
Filled the water tank up today and closed the drains on the heater and watertank, all ok and no leaks!
Turned on the cold tap,got some air and then water comes gushing out(great!)Turned on hot tap, small amount of water, then nothing??but SMARTFLO pump is still banging away every few seconds. If I leave it for 5 mins I have pressure in the hot tap but on turning it on it will run well for about 7 seconds and then nothing??
No visible leaks anywhere and after 10 mins the pump stops priming so I presume it is up to pressure.Pipes all seem ok,only driven Motorhome for an mot since October so nothing should have been disturbed.
Anyone got any bright ideas?????
Regards,
Neville

Is there the same problems with all hot taps or just one.

Any valves - manual on-off - or check or pressure reducing or relief valves before or after the HWS tank.

If you manually operate the pressure/temperature safety valve - careful if the water is hot - (on the tank itself) do you get a good flow out of it or is it similar to what you are getting from the taps.

Hi,cant see any other valves. All the hot taps are the same, run for 6 seconds then nothing!Water heater tank seems to be gurgling a bit, could it be airlocked?Water comes out of the drain and I pressed the pressure switch and water came out as well, its a mystery!

Open all the taps on cold and make sure water is coming out in a continuous stream from all of them.
Open all hot taps and leave pump running until water comes out in a continuous stream from all of them.

If that doesn't happen after ten minutes, close all taps. Is the pump running all this time or on and off. Does the pump stop soon after closing the valves.?

You said water comes out and then nothing. By nothing, do you mean no air either, no spitting and spluttering

When you open the safety valve fully (so the lever locks (protect things from the resulting water) does the water flow strongly and keep flowing strongly as the taps should, or does it surge and then nothing the same as the hot taps are doing.

Are the taps separate hot and cold or combined. If separate and there are mesh filters
or aerator spouts, they could all be gunked up.

Tony,I think it must be a blockage of sorts!I removed the "Y" connector that joins the cold pipes and connects to the water heater and a small plastic tube fell out.Is this a non return valve? If so it might be restricting the flow to the water heater, hence taps run for a short while then stop(there is no hissing/gurgling noise. Will go to the caravan spares shop tomorrow and see if I can get a new Y section.
Regards Nev.

UPDATE!
It turns out that the outlet valve on the heater had come apart and the centre had lodged in the pipe!hence I had pressure on one side and none at the taps!Replaced valve and now all OK!!

If it is a truma and it is the air inlet valve on the heater outlet (lets air it when the frost protection valve dumps the water), yes, quite prone to falling apart. Crap design.
