Water pump problem

My first post, Im a bit of a newbie when it comes to motorhomes. Bought a 10 year old Autohomes Wayfinder (Peugeot 1.9) last august & having ventured to Brittany in September (loved it) I set about laying it up for the winter.

All fresh & waste water was thoroughly drained as per the manual.

Today I refilled with fresh water only to find the pump is not working. At first the pump light on the switch panel was on but this went off shortly after opening & closing the taps a few times. I checked the fuse & it was blown so replaced it only for this to blow as well.

I dont know if this is an electrical fault or the pump has jammed (maybe due to frost damage).

Im tempted to strip the pump down but is there anything else I can check before I delve into the pump?

Thanks in advance

Hi Bernie
What make of pump have you got ?
We had a similar problem after this winter , ours is a whale smartflo unit so removed the pump and striped it down only to find that the head unit ( impeller ) had allowed water to get into the motor and seized it up , probably due to freezing ,gladly i managed to get a replacement at a good price.
hope this helps

Hi Keith

Thanks for replying.

I've now taken the pump out & it's a "Whale Premium Pump". Having tested it across a battery I think its deceased.

I wont bother to strip it down, I'll replace it with a new one as it's 10 years old anyway.

Thanks for your help.

Bernie
