Hi all have requested before but still no reply due to distance we travel up from Plymouth as light as possible to Scotland and stop first night just over Erskine Bridge then head up to highlands often camping wild for atleast two nights does anyone know where we could fill up water tank before we carry on without going to a site. Also still would like any good stop overs near m6 for when we need to put head down up and back but not to far off motorway. Also last year found wonderful wild camping down in the Galoway Forrest Park just travel around the park many small roads leading to lovely spots some right next to small lochs.

cant give you any specific locations but church/grave yards usually have a tap.
ok, you wont get a hose on but its an option with a watering can etc.

Water needed on way to highlands

Thank you for your idea brilliant idea never thought of church yards and can leave donation in the boxes usually just inside church doors will now have to stop at first graveyard. Not sure that sounds to good ha ha

If travelling from Carlilse to Edinburgh on A7,there is a picnic site at Teviothead with a toilet block with an outside tap

Not answering your question I know, but have you tried missing out the Glasgow rat run and going North via Stirling & Calendar? It's about 3 miles longer to Crianlarich but a much, much, nicer run.

Hi,

when you stop for fuel ask if there's an outside tap you could use for a few ??? !! :confused:gallons of drinking water, works for us every time, the Scottish are a very hospitable bunch.

Happy travels,

regards, Simon.

Just ask Geoff W. His van was hit by a truck on the A7 on his way up to the Border meet on Friday. Quite a mess but no one hurt thankfully.
