I'm looking for an on demand gas water heater, the type that fires up the gas when you turn the tap on, and will continue providing water until either the gas or water runs out lol.

Talk to me! What recommendations do we have?

TIA :)

Think I read about an Alde addition that you can add inline for hot water on demand ... I know nothing more.

paloma , rinnai , morco , all good makes. all need a flue of course. heaters for caravans tend to be smaller , still work ok . or wait till you're abroad and buy one a lot cheaper. can be mounted anywhere including in a back box

Just a thought ...instant Hot Water systems tend to have a fair bit of water running through and out the tap until the water is nice and hot, so in a Camper/Motorhome setup, you might end up using a lot of water before you get the hot?

I went for a heater that is "semi on-demand" with a 10L reservoir so the water is hot once the water in pipe between heater and tap is run through as I thought would be more efficient on water use (and also in my case lets me heat water "off-peak" (when driving or good solar) as mine is electric)

i use a morco had it 18yrs now. its ok. but these days i would use a chinese version of them. have a spare here i bought in morocco . but ebay as similer.
as for the cold water to start just catch it in a jug . put it back in the tank or use it in the kettle for washing water.etc.
best just have a short run to shower or taps though.
i only feed the shower with mine . if washing things just take the washing bowl into shower and fill.
always boil fresh water for drinks then use whats left as washing water as well.

there should be a book on MOTORHOME HUSBANDRY full of tips like this , hanging a rope off the gutter ends to catch rainwater etc, all stuff us old timers take for granted

Using hot/warm water from our Truma unit works fine.
Leave the plug in then wash clothes in the shower tray after adding some washing powder.
Often possible to collect non-drinking water "Ask Nige" BUT we do not put it in the freshwater tank
