Thanks everyone for all the hints in the end sent away for rubber ring £2.00 fixed problem i hope one more thing gas will not ignite read manual flicked switch up and down several time no luck any clues.

If it's not been used on gas for a while, it takes quite a long time for air to be pushed through the pipework by the gas feed.

Try lighting it for at least a minute ...

I know this sounds daft but have you got gas? or is it turned on?

have you remembered to take the cowl off from the flue on the outside
