I use 5 ltre bottled water to cook and make drinks, but for my shower water, i just look for someone washing there car if i am low, and bung them a quid, this is good in built up area you travel through, of no use in the north of scotland,
I have syphoned water from chalk streams and water ways on the moors where it is very drinkable, but put this in my water tank to wash and clean, perhaps a lit of garage taps could be employed in these pages somewhere???
if there are none i could start the ball rolling.

stonehenge car park, two lots of toilets and one big tap the coach drivers use, and if you talk to security nicly they will even run a hose out for you.
Just down the road on the 303 at countess sevices by amesbury roundabout, pull up at the side of the till, they have a good tap there, also on the lft of the building they have one.

oakhampton, the shell garage at the west of the town have a tap at the side of the toilets, you can get down their with a twenty foot hose, again, the manager is helpfull, just tell him the kids dirty and you have no water

cartgate services off the 303 in somerset has a blu nylon pipenext to the cafe, it has a tap on it, and i use it on a regular basis

the camalot in south cadbury somerset, dave the landlord, will let you fill up with his house, as long as you buy a couple of drinks

just a few to be going on with

Thanks for that!

Also we find, if you're a member of the Caravan Club or Caravan and Camping Club - if you pull into one of their sites and show your membership they happilly let you fill up and empty chemical waste. We've never been turned away yet!

Yes but they sure know how to charge for that service don't they, they call it Motorhome service stops and it's about £7 you can do laundry and shower too though can't you.

... or try this: 10l ortlieb water bag in a small rucksack - fill it anywhere with a sink. Macdonalds is a fave - tell them you're washing your hands before you order. This is known as a 'McFill with lies'. :D

I have 5 x 5l water bottles for drinking water, making tea. I fill my tank with tap water from anywhere, including from beach showers, which is for showering and washing up dishes. I never have a water problem on the road.

There is always a water tap in Cemetrys both at home and abroad.

Very rarely had a problem with finding water both here & abroad. Always try to keep the tank at a level to suit conditions, touring in this country I try to keep at least half a tank where in somewhere like France or Germany I will happily run around with about a quarter tank full. As I posted in other threads there are good chemicals such as Elsil which is tasteless & keeps the water safe or better still a filter with a separate tap. We reckon the filter has already paid for itself in not buying any bottled water when abroad.
Always handy to have a short piece of hose for filling up from a sink, have a couple of good 8 litre bottles that will fit in a haversack (one for me & one for the wife :D).

Beware of Beach Showers in Spain as they are usualy seawater. I generally stop at church cemetaries to fill up my water. The residents have never complained ;)

water

We have always kept the on board tank clean and use that for drinking, only fill it at home or somewhere we trust( if in doubt try a kettle full for a cup of tea if it tastes fine then we fill up if needed.
We carry a couple of gallon containers for washing dishes and ourselves( we can shower with less than a gallon for the two of us)It is easy to fill the odd container, no complaints off anyone

I am aware of some showers on the beaches in Spain use salt water. A drop on the tip of my tongue before I fill my watering can.

many public toilets have a outside tap especially if the toilets are by beaches in sea side towns..
Most petrol stations have a outside tap.
at a last resort tesco petrol stations have clean drinkable water from a coin operated pump next to tyre inflation
