Hi all,
just wanted to refresh peoples minds about the use of Pub stopovers of which there is a comprehensive list on this website.
The reason i wanted to bring up this subject is that as a postman i cover a lot of ground on various deliveries which are mostly rural.
Today i was delivering to a pub near castle acre nr Swaffham in Norfolk which had a big carpark & a nice level piece of grassland ideal for overnighting. I spoke to the landlord about the chances of adding it to the pub stopover list but he keenly declined the whole idea, his reason was that he used to allow M/homes and caravans to overnight but a lot didn`t bother spending any money even on a few drinks in his pub so decided to kill off the idea.

So folks the point is use it or loose it, you don`t have to get totally blasted, just show some gratitude, we all know a few cans in the van is cheaper but a pub carpark is a little safer for the less secure campers. :cheers:

The pub stopovers in the POI download are a valuable resource, but it is definitely advised to ring ahead to confirm that it's OK to stay, and to part with some beer tokens/food tokens in exchange for the favour ...

Im hoping for a redundancy offer over the next 2 years. lol

if you stay over in a pub ,there is no point in having half a bitter and thinking that is payment for a night ,you must spend a nice ammount ,after all it could cost upwards of 25 quid a night on a camp site ,so for that two could have a bar meal and a couple of drinks ,and still be in pocket realy ,and then the pub owner is more than likely going to allow another van to stay. ps leave early make shure ithe area is tidy ,even if you have not left any rubbish and if the owner is not about ,just drop a little thank you note through his letter box , works a treat shows we are good and responsable people.
