Wanted Stopover off the A7

Anyone any favourite stopovers on the A7 North from Carlisle to say Hawick, a quiet location preferable. Please feel free to use PM system, thanks.
Maybe stopover before the Borders Meet, it's a fair old trek from Mid Wales.

Hi Bill,

If you tried the A68 (from the A69), there are some pubs you could probably overnight at. One of them (I forget its name) is between the A69 and the Military Road when you first drop on to the A68. It has a small car park but there is an industrial unit over the road which should still be OK to use.

As you approach the roundabout for the Military Road, the pub is on your left.

The barman said that m/homers regularly use this place.

Heres one for you Bill, It,s a carpark used by Mountain bikers and walkers, it has a toilet and water tap;)

There's a CL at the Mosspaul Inn on the A7 a few miles before Hawick - you may need to be a CC member, of course. Link is mosspaul welcome page.

We've never stopped there but have driven past.
 
Have used a lay-by heading north on the A7. On the left just north of Hawick near a narrow bridge.
Back off the road on what appears to be part of the old road.
No facilities but OK for a nights rest.
Shared the parking with a couple of HGVs.
