WANTED - Demountable Truck Camper To Fit European/Japanese Pick Up

Hi All,

Firstly what an excellent forum, full of loads of useful info.

Having had T4 & T5 campervans we are now looking for a demountable camper for trips away as we feel this will be a much more versatile set-up.

Will consider anything as long as it:
a) fits a European/Japanese double cab pick-up
b) is completely watertight
c) has enough headroom for me at 6'3"

Am keeping an eye out on Ebay (UK and Europe), Gumtree and daily Google searches but they do not seem to be that popular over here compared to the US and Europe.

Given I carried out most of the conversion work on my T4 & T5 I am happy to refit the interior to suit our needs so interior condition / age is not that important.

Will also consider combined purchase of demountable with a matched double cab pick-up if condition of the pick-up and price is right.

So please let me know what you have.

I will now await a 'flurry' of information about all those demountables for sale!! :)

Thanks

I think your biggest problem will be the same as mine "height" I'm 6'2" but good luck with your search:pc::D

Hi - yes height will be the issue unfortunately.

From looking on the Tischer website their 230 model has 195cm (almost 6'5) but the chances of a nice used one of those appearing for sale and at an agreeable price will be pretty slim. :(

Found a Ranger one advertised but was told headroom only 5'11" so no good.

Oh well, here's hoping someone has something of interest.......

You could try Nene Overlands website, they do a Demountable for self fit out, (or fully fitted). But I'm not sure of the headroom or whether they are only suitable for Land Rovers.

Still worth a look.

Thanks Rob - have stumbled across their website in my search. There are old references to them doing the demountables but their current website seems to just focus on poptop demountables for land rovers.

May give them a call though to see what they can offer.

Thanks again.

I would say it would be worthwhile concentrating on Dutch sites, they are the most numerous owners of the compact demountables especially on Jap utes.

Is there any way I can contact this guy ?

Is there any way of contacting the guy who wants the Demountable ? Thanks mod :cool1:

Hi Farmermick,

Sorry for the delay, don't log in here very often.

Things have now changed and an 06 VW LT35 high roof came came up for sale which I couldn't resist. Now planning and starting a gas free / hook up free conversion of the van so hopefully we can do some proper wild camping at some point soon.

Will post progress in another thread but no longer looking for a demountable.

Thanks anyway.

As a real outside bet I dont suppose this is still for sale is it? Hoping last years bad winter meant you kept it :D
