Wanted - Burstner bits

Hi All,

we've just started motorhoming (had a caravan before) and have gone in at the deep end with a 2003 Burstner 820i. As ever with anything a few years old, there are minor cosmetic items to sort - any advice on sourcing or does anyone have for sale;

1. Ashtray unit for dash (it's a Ducato-based m/h). Something's bust on it so it's open all the time - annoying rather than crucial.

2. Blind unit for habitation door.

3. Window catches - a couple are pretty ropey.

4. Last but not least - door mirrors are electrically heated and adjustable, but don't work. There's power at the control switch on the door - any ideas on how to check further gratefully received.

Thanks, Hugh

Welcome to the forum.

Item 2, the blind.

The best way to get a replacement is to contact a Burstner dealer (ideally the one who sold it new). They can order a new one for you. I recently needed parts for my blind but you have to buy the complete blind (with spring loaded roller and fittings). It cost me around £65 from Discover Leisure but they have now gone bust. There is a UK based company advertises Seitz spares. They were not very helpful and could not get the part for me, it seemed like it was too much effort for them.

I actually repaired mine while waiting for the blind and have not fitted it yet. Mine is a different van so the blind will probably not fit yours.

As for the ashtray, visit a scrap yard. ;)

Thanks for reply - I'd have a go at DIY repair but I can't work out how to get the thing off the door to begin with!

On mine there is a full length inner plastic (or fibre glass?) cover, it is held on by self tappers around the edge. Once it is off, you can remove the blind easily.

Good luck with trying to get any joy out of Burstner Dealers. We have a Burstner caravan (sorry, I used to belong to the 'Other Side) and tried to purchase several things from the dealers, but they only seemed interested in selling new vehicles.

However, I did find several 'similar' parts from smaller caravan / motorhome parts suppliers as well as good old fleebay.

Ashtray and mirror parts. Should be able to pick this up from any breakers. Ducato's are very popular.
Window catches. Bet these are generic and could be sourced from any spares suppliers.
Blind parts. Again you should be able to pick up something 'like' the original from spares suppliers or ebay.

Saying all that, if the motorhomes are as well built as the caravan's then you should have many years of fun motoring !!
(Caravan is up for sale if anyone fancies it??!!). No harm in asking !!!
