Yes, I have one. Its the portable type with dish etc. All 12v, with remote, cables, case, manual etc works fine. I as going to put it on Ebay but if you`re interested pm me and we`ll work something out.

I'm interested in a 12v sat receiver too.. Have a Maxiview dish which came with the MH and want to try and see if i can get the news channels whilst wilding.
With all this economic gloom and Party Conference season, don't want to miss any of the fun.

er.... its a bit hard that, when im in the middle of nowhere, either here or in Germany, miles from any pub, plus i doubt a pub will show F1. football i can live without.

You can listen to formula 1 on Five Live, the commentary is better ;)

but i cant see the brum brum cars go round and round on the radio ;-)

with bbc dropping it live from next year, i will be watching it on german RTL. no way am i paying sky (plus just had to cancel my tv and fone with virgin, so only internet)

Just been in local Aldi supermarket (Newark) and they are still trying to get rid of their portable satellite receiver kits (a special purchase they got in the Spring). The full works in a suitcase for £39.99. I have heard they are pretty good. But just too much trouble to set up for a short stay - especially for wild campers.
(I have a bit of bent aluminuim rod on the roof connected to a freeview box and fold up DVD player and screen. Can usually get a decent enough picture. I only use it for the news and teletext weather, watch home recorded DVDs the rest of the time)

they are pretty good, i have a 12v freeview box which i used with a old battery, but the ariel is a pain even when trying to hang it outisde.

im tempted at that price (50 in my local one). a bit more than i can afford at the mo though.

I think you will find the satellite dish even more of a pain than the aerial. I found a length of 1/4" aluminium rod, tapped a thread on each end, bent it to go up and then round in a semicircle, bolted it through the roof through rubber insulating grommets, connected the aerial wire centre to one side and sheath to the other. Works a treat in decent signal areas. Obviously don't expect a signal if surrounded by buildings as in a street.

true, its not so easy to find a satelite 22,000miles in the sky when you cant see it, trouble is places i will be going will be nowhere near a ariel signal, plus i need a sat dish, as i said i want it for F1, which means i need to watch it on German tv channel here, or in europe...hence must be a sat dish.

been to many campsites in europe where almost every bugger has one, even in tents...and if they can do it, im sure i can :)

If the Aldi one is like the Maplins one we have and you use a compass for the general direction it has a signal beep built in that tells you when you have the best signal.

We haven't had a problem setting it up we can usually get it done within a couple of minutes and so put it up even if we're only staying 1 night

its the same brand rebadged but not sure what comes in the suitcase. i found a good website for campers and sat dishes, if anyone wants it (will take a while to find...but no probs )

I dont bother fiddling about with a tv aerial I use my portable sat all the time with an inline satfinder (about £10) I dont think its ever taken me more than 10 minutes to tune in to a sat as long as you have an idea of where south is before you start...maybe im just well practised?

Yes, I`m pretty sure its the same one as it has the built in signal finder beep thing.
