VW Karmann Gipsy Motorhome – 1985.

A perfect family holiday vehicle! Sleeps 4. (2 x double)
Imported from Germany April 2009. As such this vehicle has been maintained to a very high standard.
Sadly selling as the recession has nearly bankrupted us. We are deeply sorry to say goodbye to this fantastic bus. She’s done us proud and we’ll miss her madly!
This vehicle had a reconditioned 1.9TD engine only 21,000 miles ago! These engines provide that extra grunt that the standard 1600’s failed to deliver whilst still being incredibly economical on fuel. We have happily taken her down through France to the Cote D’Azur last year and recently all round the West Country and she never missed a beat. Driving a 10 hour day is not a problem for this van. Just sit back and enjoy the ride – knowing the drinks are chilled in the fridge!
She’s always been lovingly maintained and over-wintered indoors by the previous owner and ourselves.
Beautiful coachbuilt teak interior by Karmann. Every cupboard and nook and cranny has been meticulously thought out and crafted. The solid teak cupboard doors close tight and firm and the soft champagne coloured deep buttoned upholstery gives a real feeling of luxury and exudes supreme comfort.
Karmann Coachbuilts are highly desirable and collectable. Visit the forum at Volkswagen Karmann Coachbuilts - Website and Forum where you will find out much information and also stockists for parts, meets etc. Of only 778 ever produced there are only 111 known surviving examples have so far been found.
Built on a standard VW T25 it is in exceptional condition for its age – though naturally it has a few bumps, dings and scratches as you expect from a 25 year old vehicle. There are some places where the paint could be touched up – as it’s scratched on blistered – but these are relatively minor and do not pose any real threat and so we’ve left the van in original condition . The vinyl in the shower room is a bit shabby – but again we have not got around to replacing it as we mainly use this room for storage. Being a classic ‘Veedub’ – they are incredibly resilient vehicles and easy to obtain almost every part.
We’ve been out in torrential rain and not a drop of water has come in the van!
If you’ve ever considered a traditional VW camper van make sure you check out a Gipsy too – you’ll never look back. It’s like a 5 star hotel by comparison! The retro 80’s styling of the exterior hides a stunning spacious and highly appointed interior. It’s a bit like a Tardis!
Literally £000’s have been spent on this beauty over the last year to make sure we’ve got all the creature comforts and the van is as efficient as possible. The Van comes with:
Leisure battery – Holds good charge over longer idle periods
LPG Leisure gas - BRAND NEW! (+ Europe adaptor) New large capacity LPG gas under-slung cylinder which frees up valuable locker space where the old cylinders were kept. We only used £3.50 worth of gas last year!!

Shower (Though never used!)
Electrolux fridge – Serviced 6 months ago. Serves cold drinks on the go!
Trumatic Boiler/Heater – Overhauled and new - BRAND NEW thermostat. Toasty!

Fire Extinguisher *– Untested in UK but have earlier test certificates
New Curtains - BRAND NEW! We also have the original curtains for all you purists!

Dashboard Fan - BRAND NEW! – retro style stainless steel
Shiny Chrome VW Hubcaps - BRAND NEW!
Rear Safety Belts - BRAND NEW! – to keep the nippers safe and sound
Omnister Awning – Fantastic in the drizzle watching everyone trying get their tents up!
Rear Rack *– Extra space for trunk/cases/inflatable dingy etc. We have the original bicycle racks too if you need them
Roof Bars – Opportunity to install roof boxes or carry inflatable boat, kyaks, skiis, fishing rods etc
Parabolic Side and Rear Mirrors - BRAND NEW! make driving and parking a left hand drive van an absolute doddle!
Sony Stereo – BRAND NEW! (Radio/MP3 + CD) WMA AAV remote control 4 speaker stereo. Big rear speakers and super sharp front door speakers give this a fantastic sound – and the remote is very handy when you are chilling out under the awning!
We also have the original instructions (in German) and English translation. AND the original colour sales brochure – for all you anoraks!!
The van is serviced, taxed (4 Months), MOT’d (10 months) and ready to go! The tyres are excellent and she uses no oil! Nothing to do but choose your destination. (She’s even got BRAND NEW wipers!!!)
NB:There has been a fibre-glass repair to the shower tray - see pic
Repair with Rubber paint to the roof– see pic.
Both these repairs are good and do not leak.
