first ,many thanks to everyone wo hs helped me in the past,as i build up experience i to may be able to offer some assistance along the line.I have a vw transporter t4,autosleeper trooper and perhaps someone could tell me whwt the two large white plastic vents vent and also what the smaller metal vent is for.all threeare on the off side of the vehicle, also ,if i unscrew the vents to see whats behind and to check the condition of the bodywork will i be doing more harm than good as i,m not mechanically minded?

The 2 big ones will be for the fridge (about 400mm x 150mm?) and the other one might be the exhaust from the central heating if it's gas powered.

Best to leave them in place unless there's rust bubbling up around the edges.

The small metal vent could be the gas fridge exhaust. The two large plastic vents are also to allow the fridge to cool. These vents have inserts to be removed in warmer weather by turning the retaining screws with a coin. I leave mine on through the winter.
If your van has Eberspacher heating it will have a third vent with a cover which must be removed to allow the heater to ignite.
You may cause more damge by disturbing the vents.
