Just renewed my Surfshark VPN sub and with a discount code and a bonus add on 1 time offer with a 24 hour countdown that appeared after I renewed I managed to get a 3 years 3 months sub for £26 per year. This is less than half price of the normal standard annual sub.

Very happy with Surfshark as it enables all U.K. online viewing and security when in Europe and high speed so does not cause buffering so did not see a need to look elsewhere given the offer that was available.

Who do others use and what sort of prices are paid?

And do you get full fast access when overseas to all the channel players (iPlayer, ITVX, SKY sports, etc) without buffering?

This may be of interest to members who spend long periods in France, Spain, etc.

This question will probably confirm just how techno-numpty I am.

Can you use it to make international phone calls.?

My 3 UK phone contract has been " uprated"..
So I now have to pay £2 a day to use data, phone and text.
It's on Airplane mode and the local hotspot, nowadays.

We don't do Telly or films and the only games we play are dominoes and British Bulldog.

If you download opera mini it has a free vpn, works on phone and any pc both win and linux.
And yes paul if you have the correct software a ph call can be made from a pc, not sure about a mobile.

But the VPN in Opera does not have a UK specific server so I dont think it will allow you to access iPlayer etc when abroad. Apparently if you are using a UK phone though as a hotspot on contract you can access UK TV anyway without a VPN. Not tried it but I am sure some on here have stated so much.

I have never been able to get a smart ph on the web outside of our house, so gave up and went back to a old flip ph
The only thing i found useful on them was maps me.

Sounds to me like you either didnt have a data plan, or data was turned off and you were just using the wifi in your house. Of course they should work outside of the house as long as there is a 3, 4 or 5g signal. I have two sims in mine Vodafone and EE. Between the two we always got online on a five month tour last summer.

I phoned up and told 3 is being switched of as from now, even before that it only worked with the house wifi, no connection outside at all.

We use around 75GB to 100GB each month. If you are a low data user roaming for 2 months or less then a UK sim does permit access to various UK streaming players without a VPN.

We always pick up sim cards local to the country we are in and only use roaming on the rare occasions the local sim is slower.

As such we have been a Surfshark user for 3 years and as it has worked well for us we have extended the sub for a further 3 years at a cost of just over 55p per week.

It gets used in the UK aswell as it protects you from the evils of scanners and when you are parked next to several motorhomes you can never be sure if your service, which is visible to all when you turn your hotspot on, is being monitored.

How old was the phone Trev? If it only had 3g it must be ancient.
