Parked up last night at approx 7.00pm on Caldbeck Fell for the night and had a good nights sleep apart from the rain bouncing on the roof.
Was up early and have just returned from a dog walk and put the kettle on. A 4x4 stopped and a NT warden came over. I met him halfway and to be honest he was pleasant and we just had a general conversation about the weather etc. He never actually asked if I had overnighted but did mention it wasn’t strictly allowed.
I got the impression he turned a blind eye to campers parked up and was more concerned about 4x4 vehicles using the fell and people lighting camp fires etc.
I haven’t been put off overnighting here again but obviously another NT warden might have a different approach to overnighting on the Fell.

To be honest, always found the NT wardens pretty good as long as you haven't left your mark there. The area is one of the quieter places anyway that wouldn't normally be chosen as a stopover by a larger group as they prefer Keswick to be in easy walking distance.

I dare say he will visit the spot again to check you've gone
