has any-one tried microsofts virtual earth?
I find that, some out of the way places which
doesn't come up on google earth
do come up on virtual earth
it doesn't zoom in as clear though
but you don't have to download it
just go to

http://maps.live.com/

and change the picture to aerial

Just given it a try, and for my area gives a clearer picture than Google Maps arial.

The imagery is a little out of date though as the shots of our house must have been taken about 2 1/2yrs ago.

Good clear views so have added it to my favorites. Thanks Nick.

It dont seem to agree wi my pc as earth keeps spinning away into another orbit or oblivion.

if the detail is good you can determine the possabilites of a wild
camp or even the lay of the land, this site has good detail in most area's

checked this one to the images on here are at least 10 years old
can tell by my house Cars in the drive long gone
the other site is more up to date but still worth a look
at the property developments over time

Yep had it on my lap top for a year or so, you can do some real clever zooming, though it favours the U.S. place wise

The clearest seems to be Yahoo maps. It has very good contrast.
There must be better satelite pictures available. After all, we are always hearing about being able to read newspapers from way out in space

nice one sundown. realy good views with the birds eye just got a clear viw of where hoping to park at weekend.
