We've used a camp site along the road from Corfe Castle to Studland for years and I've noticed there always seem to be a lot of motorhomes on the viewpoint overnight and thought it would be a wonderful view to wake up to. I can't believe it isn't on the POI map, so does anyone know what the situation is?

I thought the POIs were wildcamping sites, not campsites?

I seem to have caused confusion...

What I meant was that a lot of motorhome users park on the viewpoint layby, just up the road from the campsite we use at Rempstone. I 've altered the word campers to motorhome owners in my original post.

A few years ago you used to be able to park all alone the road to the ferry as well as the view point but things changed they stopped all over night parking on the road as well as they put no overnight parking at the view point I have not been down this way this year because of ill health but I am sure that the council would not of removed the No Overnight signs so if you do park there be very careful

Hi, I live in the Bournemouth area & pretty much all of this area is Verboten for overnight parking unless the council have had a changed of heart, which I doubt.

As people have said, it used to be very popular to park up along this road. Then vans starts to stay for two nights, three nights . . . 1 week, 2 weeks . . . finally folk were there for a whole summer with all the paraphernalia of a permanent camp.

This was mixed in with some ‘strange goings on’. Park your car and within seconds men would appear from the nearby bushes offering the sort of services definitely not found in local guidebooks. The phrase Camping Club had a whole new meaning along this road.

Finally, when the dead body of a young man was found in the undergrowth the council clear all the vans away.
