Well they've gone and done it again, Victron have now launched the Smart Shunt. Available in 500/1000/2000 Amp models, using the Victron Connect App to access the data. Complete game changer and will make a trouble-free installation!!! No stock available at the moment (My Back-Orders have been put in already (y)):

That's pretty cool, but I do think missing off the alarm function isn't ideal...

As you say, really easy to install though :)

I just posted this in reply about the SmartShunt and thought I would repeat here. Note this is my personal opinion, others wil have theirs ....

Ref SmartShunt:

This is essentially a headless BMV. It will be cheaper [than a BMV], but won't offer the same functionality.
1) no physical display. That is an obvious one, but it does means it is impossible to check info without a smartphone
2) no relay functionality. Probably won't matter to most, but it can be a useful feature. I actually use the relay on the BMV-712 to control a water heater, for example.
(and 3) - a point I missed off on my initial post but St3v3 makes above - no auto-warning alarm)

Personally, I think for a campervan/Motorhome, choosing the Smart Shunt over the BMV-712 will save you money but the loss of functionality, especially 1) is too much of a disadvantage to make it a worthwhile alternative.
I think the SmartShunt is designed for remote monitoring setups where the manager of those locations connects via the Victron Remote Management console to monitor the system and in those cases, a physical display would be little value.

To be honest, most people aren't fused with both the alarm function or the relay operation. Our BMV users mainly are using it just to see their capacity and percentage and do not opt for having the relay connected to anything.

Expensive when you have to buy a smart ph or l/top,not every one has or wants one.

I couldn't agree more when it comes to not having a Smartphone/Tablet/PC etc, however as most tend to carry them and a lot of the more modern M/H's are coming through with equipment that can be controlled by them (such as Truma's i-Net, our Non-Starter and VTS Systems, Oyster's Vision Range of Satellites), it makes for a good cost effective way of monitoring your leisure battery bank.

I'm glad they've launched this.....
I was tempted by the 712 BUT wasn't bothered about having the tiny and IMHO pfaffy display...

Smartshunt makes it a no brainer for me as already have a tablet in the Moho with useful apps on it etc...
