So winters got here +2 degree here in Somerset. It feels like 0 degrees.

This is the second time I've turned off the controller.

Can I leave controller off = maintenance mode ?????.

Will the cold spell bother it in maintenance mode ????

If you turn the charger off (i.e. in Maintenance Mode) you could leave it in that mode as long as you want :)

Its the 1865 batteries in a re lion 100ah battery.

When off will the solar panels get pi$$ed ?
Relion say you can charge their LiFePO4 below freezing but only at a much reduced rate. At this time of year most solar panels are producing very little. You could further reduce the output by temporarily dropping the charge voltage to say 13.2V. This is what Relion say about charging.

When charging lifepo4 at low temps there are certain precautions that need to be taken if you want maximum life from them.
Below 10deg C limit charge voltage to 3.6V/cell, below 5deg C limit charge voltage to 3.55V/cell.
When the charge reaches 80% the charge current should start to taper off reducing to zero charge at 100%. DON'T trickle a full lithium battery ( at any temperature) so solar should be disabled when a battery reaches the voltages above. Unconnected panels should be fine.
