Neil, my van has disabled tax and it is all done online after the first time, no need to show insurance, MOT although you have to show proof that you qualify for disabled tax, very easy to do.
The first time it has to be done at the Post Office, (unfortunately, why make a disabled person travel to a Post Office? ) where you have to show the letter for proof that you qualify, the next time that it is due you can do it online, they simply ask if you still qualify, all they need for proof then is your National Insurance number.
I would get down to the Post Office one way or another, no need to wait for the six months to be up either, sorn it then get to the Post Office to tax it from April, you will receive a refund for any months left that you have paid for.


Interestingly, if you don't qualify for the enhanced rate of mobility allowance but only get the standard rate you still qualify for 50% reduction in vehicle tax, this can be a good saving.

Yes I saw what needed doing, is just getting to the post office. Too far for me to walk but close enough to make me think a taxi is a waste of money, mainly because there is nothing else I am interested in near the closest post office. Got everything I need to do it, says you need copies of MOT, insurance etc Tezza, do these have to be paper copies do you know?

Used to do either my car or bike years ago but you used to have a document you took in. May see if son in law is free Monday to take me else look for a post office in town to make it worth the taxi fare

Not all Post Offices can tax your car, you can check online for the nearest to you at the bottom of this page https://www.postoffice.co.uk/identity/vehicle-tax
then you need either your V11 or your V5 (logbook).

You also need a valid MOT certificate, if you can't find yours then apply for a new copy online, it is free

You don't need to show insurance certificates anymore, unless yours isn't on MID, check on here, https://www.askmid.com/

You also need
a valid exemption certificate if you are claiming disability tax, once this is shown at the Post Office you can do everything online next time.
