Hey Gang,
Soooo, I’ve just fitted exactly the same CCTV system on ‘Boxy’ as I had & worked BRILLIANTLY on ‘The Nest’.
Now it’s been up & running for a cpl of month now & again very happy with it on the whole.
However
On this system the infrared LEDs for the night vision just seem TOO bright. Instead of ‘Bathing’ an area in IR light, it’s more ‘Focused’ like a Spot light.
Now I’ve been up & down the menu MANY times & can’t see any adjustments that can be made. so I’m thinking of covering some of the IR lights on the lens of the Cameras. Has anyone done the same or got any other ideas ?.

I have to say, it’s actually A LOT cleaner & Clearer than these pictures are showing, I think it’s a ‘Camera Thing’.

What was your voltage when you took the screenshots? If it is well over 12.0 volts it may be too much. I will have a voltage regulator somewhere if it helps. If you are on hookup I would try it again when the voltage is a bit lower and see what it is like.

You know the rectangular tubs of ice cream that are white, but a bit opaque? Cut a doughnut (don't eat it 🙄 ) of that to fit over the lights to act as a diffuser. Might work!

Yeah,,Well I can’t promise St3v3,,,,I get what you’re saying though guys, I suppose it’s down to trials.
I’ve actually got some Black gaffer type tape, or even the Black Mat off cuts I could use,,,start off by punching a few holes in it, Then increase for best effects! 🤔

As maingate suggested you could try reducing the voltage to the IR spotlight. You will probably find that although you have bought the same they have updated something. Some of the latest cameras do not need IR and work happily in darkness.

Hi NZ, What camera system are you using?
Hi Boris7,
I’ve used a cheap standard House 4 Camera, with 1T hard drive & combined monitor. I had TWO of these systems operating together for many years on The Nest, & fitted one on ‘Boxy’ Around October last year. Cheap, Compact not that power hungry, suits my needs.

Well, today is an awful Grey, Rainy Day with not a lot of Solar Coming in, So I doubt the battery is going to get a lot of Charge. So with my battery at 12.4v it’s a shame it isn’t dark now to test the IR at that voltage. Obviously the cameras in daylight are working fine as you would expect, (Again quality in reality is better than picture is showing).

Oh,,,,WOOO WHOOO The Charge voltage just went up to 12.5v, so something is coming in 👍

Looks good. Been tempted by such a system....

How water resistant are the cameras? I know they say "weatherproof" in the description, but fitted to a vehicle it would be like they are subject to a 50MPH+ gale and monsoon for hours day after day, so a lot worse than on the side of a house.
Do you run the recorder off an inverter or does it support a 12V DC input?

As far as the cameras are concerned, You Know I’m a Full Time Livaboard that actually uses & Moves all around the country spending time in all areas & all weather from North Scotland to South Cornwall & Although my 5000kg home isn’t built for speed i can honesty say NO water, Ice, Snow issues to date.
Now what I WILL say is, Puraflex the Shxt out of the Installation process, & I drilled a extra small drain hole in the bottom edge of the plastic mounting ring to allow for any moisture to run out.
As you know, being a House system they come with TWO moulded dropper plugs to take it from 230v down to 12ish, one is to power the 4 cameras, the other is to power the unit, both are at around the 2a MAX, BUT, Me being me, I cut the Plugs off, wired both leads together & put it in my fuse box via a single 2a fuse straight to 12v & works absolutely fine on both The Nest & Boxy.
You can see that the only switch that is on is the CCTV system as it’s on 24/7, then the corresponding lower left fuse is a 2a one that feeds both the cameras & the unit.

Im not familiar with this system, but I suspect the systems control panel will give you the i.p. Address of each camera, make sure you are on the same network as the system and type that I.p. Address into your browser, sign into that individual camera and there you should be able to adjust that cameras settings including i.r. Etc

You may also find that having the NVRs I.p. Address and signing in from there will give you more control over the system anyway. The user interface on the NVR is a simple consumer control only and you will need to access via I.p. For advanced admin and settings.

Ive not trained with Sannce but they are all much the same.

😳 I’ve got a Hammer !....

Seriously that sounds like a knowledgeable insight & the possible to fix, Thank you...but I genuinely have the Teck capacity of a Donut & fear that if I poke around in the virtual world of whatever you was saying Chester might Disappear !.

Nowhere near as hard as you think,

You just need the NVR connected to a router and ideally a laptop with either net that you can connect to the router (it’s doable with a mobile phone, but a little harder)

I’ve got a Laptop !.
I only use it to watch DVDs though.
In fact I’m getting rid of it & buying one of these portable DVD players instead, but I can’t find one that has Bluetooth to connect a decent speaker to.

I think I will wait, & be on the lookout to meet someone like you who appears very knowledgeable in this area to maybe have a poke around in the dark arts of the keyboard world.

Many Thanks though.

I think it's DVR not NVR!

The difference between a DVR and Network Video Recorder boils down to how they record video. DVRs take video directly from cameras over coaxial cable and then process it for recording. NVR systems are similar but they do not process video, NVRs simply catalog and store video that IP cameras stream to the NVR

Yes you are right, but what I was saying was he has I think a DVR, DVR the cameras do not have up addresses,.
