Older atmospheric diesel engines can digest that. I have a Peugeot J5 (basicly the same as Talbot) and a tried it once. It worked. Only a bit lazy in acceleration, but what an exquisite scent of frites from the exhaust. Didn't go on later for the price of veg oil was more than the diesel one. Shouldn't try it with a turbo though.
lots of modern tdi's run on waste veg oil (wvo) info : go to dieselveg.com.
some garages are now selling biodiesel for @ cost per litre same as veg oil so to me dosen't make sense to be putting veg oil in.
from my understanding fuel enters the pump and exhaust fumes enter the turbo so i can't imagine any problems occuring with the turbo. i do however strongly recommend ensuring that the oil/diesel mix is as thin as diesel on its own else you will put your pump under unnecessary strain. this you can do by putting a sample of say 1ltr of diesel in one tub and 1 ltr of 50/50 diesel/veg oil in another and timing them through a filter, if timings same or very close then similar viscosity. hope this makes sense.
