If anyone is planning to use the CC site on the racecourse I might mention they have imposed new regulations if you're a dog owner, ie, must have insurance, all dogs on lead, take home the dog poo and no parking on the centre of the course so basically dogs not welcome.

Thats done it for the local dog walkers too then. When we were last there,(last September) the centre of the course was alive in the evenings with locals (I assume) arriving with cars full of dogs. It looked like the general exercise area at Crufts! These were supplemented by a caravan rally on the rest of the concourse, which also seemed to include a high dog population.

Did they specify what sort of insurance they were meaning? Third party or Pet Health?

Can't see that clearing up dog poo is a problem!!!!!

Personally I think that should be a requirement for all responsible dog owners  Agree that it's the bad owners who cause most of the mess but from my point of view thats about half of them.

It isn't, we have two dogs and I don't think I own a single jacket or coat that does not have at least one plastic sandwich bag in each pocket --- cheaper than poop bags and just as good.

As it happens Uttoxeter racecourse has always had a 'pick it up' policy, they provide lots of bins, the purpose of the post was to let anyone know that they can no longer let their dogs off the lead for exercise, thats all thats changed but its also why many people visit. Most of the rubbish, sweet wrappers etc are left by kids.

As far as I'm concerned dogs - kids all the same, you own them you look after them. Some of the kids should be kept on a lead, why not have insurance for the damage they can cause & the parents should make sure they pick up their rubbish or be responsible for it.

My kids are grown up now but I kept mine under control, only had a dog when I was little & I would be classed as the complete opposite to a dog lover. Always think about following somebody whose dog has made a mess & left it, then taking my cassette & emptying onto their garden (solves the problem of another thread about where to empty your toilet )

Norris,

Nappy sacks are cheaper than sandwich bags for dog poo. There is also no chance of taking the wrong one to work with you. :D:D:D

Dogs, owners or both  could use the leads problem is they all have those which are on a spool (don't you find those annoying when they take up miles of space) leads should be restricted to 2ft at max. :D
