Hi,
Can you guys who use Eurotunnel with Tesco vouchers to go to France advise me how to go about it, its not mentioned on the website. It seems they charge the same fares for any size motorhome, I'm wondering, with my small campervan if it would be worth it, even with Tesco discount. The minimum charge for one way seems to be about £83.00. whereas with my 'van on a ferry, the cheapest price (DFDS) is about 50 quid less. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The procedure is quite simple and I'll detail that later in this post. Only you can decide on the value for money aspect but for me it's not just the cost, if Tesco vouchers didn't exist I'd still use the tunnel as I think it's the best method. It's quick and convenient and you stay in your 'van. Loading and unloading is far quicker and, all in all, it's a more pleasurable experience.

As it happens the times that suit me are the cheapest. We drive down from oop north and have a booking for 1900. We invariably have a good run and arrive two hours early and they always let us on an earlier train. We then get a hundred miles or so under our belt before stopping for the night. We return at about 0900 after a night at the yacht harbour at Calais and get back home mid-afternoon. These timings usually cost us about £135 return or £45 worth of Tesco vouchers.

Procedure: After checking fares decide how many you need to cash and go to the Club Card website. You then find the offer that you need, in your case tunnel vouchers and you list your voucher numbers to the value required. Tesco sends you tunnel vouchers to three times the value.

When you get the vouchers you have to make your booking by telephone so you phone the number (given on the tunnel's website) and your booking is made over the phone. You then have about ten days to get the vouchers to Eurotunnel, which will send you a confirmation email that your booking has been confirmed.

The cheapest I have seen is around 62.00 one way. The tunnel is fab as you can relax in your own van instead of being stuck on a busy ferry for 2 hours. The tunnel is really quick 35 mins but off loading also seems much quicker. If you have the vouchers then it doesn't really cost you anything. But you need to book 14 days in advance and must always start journey from the uk.

Good luck

Sorry beaten to it!!!!!

We have used Tesco vouchers for our trip next month. It is the first time we have done it, and we are really looking forward to it. I hope the train ceiling is higher than 3m :scared:

Hi Spigot.

Go to Tesco.com and click on the Clubcard tab, than click on the Rewards tab, then on the left side click on the Travel Tab.
This will show you all the train/ferry offers, just scroll down to Euro Tunnel and click on to get all the info.
We have started saving our points and will hopefully pay for a lump of our travel this year?
We are going with our dog for the 1st time so the tunel is better for us so we can stay in the van with him, plus I get awful travel sickness so 30 mins on a train beats a ferry trip any day!
Hope this helps?

We have used our Tesco vouchers for the Tunnel this year for the very first time. I was very nervous and made a few calls to Tesco Customer Service who were great. I have done it all and got the email. The only downside is that you have to send your vouchers to EuroTunnel via recorded delivery and that cost me £5.50. I am told, but not 100% certain, that you don't need your email when you get to Folkestone as they have number plate recognition.

Because we are going over at midday on a Saturday in June, after vouchers have been taken off, it has cost us £148 + £5.50 that I think is very good. The best bit was though that the very nice lady I spoke with, put our 6.5m motorhome with trailer down as a car with trailer and I persuaded her to let us keep the price, after her Supervisor agreed of course! What a bargain

1/3 rd cheaper than cash it must be the best bet and the .2 hours leway each way on tunnel is a usefull bonus

special del or signed for or recorded delivery is sufficient and is only around £1.50

Tunnel with Tesco vouchers

Hi, we've been using Tesco vouchers for the tunnel for the last four or five years and it's so simple. I see you've been advised already how to do it so won't repeat. There's plenty of head room so nothing to worry about.
By the way Bluesky the hurry is cos you can start your holiday sooner :)
Enjoy, Teene
