Good Evening
Thinking about installing 2x12v sockets in the Hab area and whilst doing pricing comparisons I came across this
USB In Car Charger socket 12v& 24v for charging mobile phone, gps etc "NEW" | eBay

Does anyone have any experience of using /fitting such a socket

Unfortunately the 12v sockets I have in the cab will only work with the ignition on!! So this route is a no no sadly cos it would've been so much cheaper!!!

Should have enough output for an iPad. I've fitted similar - use chunky wire and put a fuse in.

I fitted one of the CBE USB sockets I find it great for charging my IPad and IPod from the leisure batteries when not on hookup.

I'm sure I paid about £25 for it but it saves a lot of problems and is a useful addition to my system.

Just be aware that these built in usb sockets may use a small amount of power even when nothing is plugged into them so its a good idea to put a switch (as well as a fuse)into the positive wire to switch the sockets off when not in use. That's why we went for the plug in type so we can unplug it when we have finished. Its similar to this one.
