Uploading Vs hosting pictures.

After putting a good long thread together complete with pictures that would impress, I realised that the pictures need to be hosted. Wouldn't it be a benefit to the owners of the site to host pictures even if in restricted format?

Having spent half an hour on 500 words+ and editing 4 sat images I just gave up when the added chore of hosting came up.
I;'ve hosted a couple but as a high end web user I'm not prepared to use up paid or free hosting space for threads that should remain here forever.

As a source of information, this site has a major flaw regarding attatched/hosted pictures. If you go through some of the threads on the board there are missing links that should be pictures. This is the poster himself clearing out his hosting space and even though maybe not intentional at removing sleeping spots links and hence breaking up a post, it is a pain ion the sphincter!

As a contributing member this isn't intended to stir trouble, what I am trying to do is bring to your attention that a lot of broken links are a websites demise.

What you need to be looking at is hosting the pictures and having rights over them pictures once uploaded. To build a website you need a solid database and with members controlling the content you can see my concern.

Generally I agree with you.

There are a couple of rving sites on this side of the pond which have photo hosting. They tend to call it 'scrapbook' or 'photo gallery' and don't encourage adding photos to threads. Me, I much prefer to have the photos in context, right with the text, I have used other freebies from time to time, but I'd rather put rving photos where they belong.

If you want urls for the ones I know let me know.
