Upgrading Hymer interior lighting to LED

Our lights are fine, but juicy, so has anyone upgraded theirs to LED and could recommend a source? The lamps in the overhead hatch moulding fit in a 60mm aperture, and the ones above the dining table are flush mounted. BTW we just replaced all ten of the overhead lights in our kitchen with cool white LED's and we hate them! Should have got warm white.....

too bright !

I've mentioned this before but try going over too white leds with a yellow felt pen
 
I replaced all the lamps in our Hymer with LEDs but we used and liked the bright white ones, horses for courses, in the ones that had the plastic domes,over the table ,because the domes had yellowed I found some thin perspex and made some discs and replaced the domes with these, very easy to replace Halogen bulbs /lamps with LEDs.

After using my LED's for a year now I must say that the cool whites are better if you want to read or you really need to see something in detail. The warm whites are nice if you just want some ambient light to sit around.
But opionions will of course differ, each to their own.

I had no problems with blowing LED's despite running voltage up to 14.5V when the engine is running or when on charge from elswhere.
 
Do you need a transformer or can you just replace the existing g4 halogens with led bulbs.

As long as you buy 12 Volt LED's you don't need anything else. But I would guess that all available LED replacements are 12V anyway
 
Just done all our ceiling ones in the Swift. They were 12v florescent tubes hidden behind a plastic panel at roof height. Remove panel with tube on. Remove tube and bits. Cut off black and red wire. Stick LED Strip on to old frame. Solder on black and red wires to LED strip and refit. Took about 15min a light. LED's were on a reel of 5m from Amazon about £8. Fitted 10 units altogether. Now when we are not on EHU they all come on rather than having to touch the ones that didn't. Plenty bright enough for sitting and we have spot LED's for reading. 5m of LED's at 48w = 4amps so about half the wattage of the florescent tubes.

Lots of different LED's out there. The Super Bright Cree LED's are about 0.75w each and are very bright mainly used in spot lamps. SMD 5050 Led's are bright then the SMD 3528. All come as a white light or a slightly yellow light.

Only way to tell what they look like is to try one first rather than buy a whole load of them and find out they are to dim.
 
We have used warm white in the bathroom, to create a cosy atmosphere for having a shower. The cool white made it look cold and unwelcoming, not the required ambiance for taking your clothes off! Aten lighting supply just about everything led, and are very helpful.

try these on ebay i have them ,lamp 320430204333 then pull out bulb and replace with 190814340653,which is a 1156 single contact type,there are outhers with more or les light and white or soft,works out under £10 a lamp or if you like more power try a auwning lamp britax as they have 2 bulbs.

Definitely go for warm white, the cool white really show the wrinkles.:heart:
 
The old glass G4 bulbs will work whichever way they are fitted in the bulb holder. If they are replaced with bulb shaped G4 LED's then if they don't work when inserted, simply removing them and rotating them 180 degrees should get them working. However the disc type G4 LED replacements with the prongs at the edge will only fit one way in the light unit and have a tiny circuit onboard which sorts out the polarity. There is also another G4 LED disc type with the prongs which are on the back but in the centre, I have never used these, so can't comment.
