Has anybody used the plastic channel cappings which fit into the top of Unistrut rails.

I'm thinking of adding some to my rails to keep leaves etc. out but not sure if they would stay put on the road.

Thanks.

Rough up and use a stickall mastic, i have plastic end caps onmy home made box section bumbers and had to do this as id lost a few, see the ones on the uprights next to s wheel, end caps were also sorted.

If they are a decent make unistrut/dobistrut

They clip in pretty tight ...
Cheap copies ...well you can guess .

We use miles of unistrut/fittings at work and there's a world of difference (and price)
Between manufacturers ...unistrut comes in heavy/medium/light gauges ...
Some of the cheaper makers only do it in £$%^ gauge lol .

Yes I've gone for genuine Unistrut heavy duty channels but was thinking of the Tamlex cappings which are far cheaper.

Maybe safer to stick with Unistrut cappings then.

See if you can get a small section to try ...if it's a tight fit like the genuine stuff is then you'll have a right job to get it off lol once clipped in

Thanks Trev. I've got some end cappings being delivered today.

I did think of using mastic to stick them in but I would rather they be removeable in case anything ever needs tightening. Shouldn't do though as I will be using M8 bolts with backing plates and Nylocs.

I can always put a couple of cable ties round the cappings to start with and see how stable they remain. in fact that would be easy to do if I drilled a couple of holes in the capping and fed the cable tie inside the rail and around a couple of the slots in the bottom, they won't be seen then.
