UK to Drive on Right from 2015

Government announcment today.
As from April 1st 2015, ALL vehicles must drive on the RIGHT side of the road. You will then be given until 2020 to continue using Right hand drive vehicles and then after this, All vehicles must be converted to left hand drive or be scrapped.

This is to pull is in line with the rest of Europe and will help with vehicle sales as all vehicles will then be made in only left hand drive.

What a great idea I cant wait, a great boost for the car and road industry it will pull this country out of it's silly old Johnny English past and let us be at one with Europe. By then we will only be allowed to eat French Cheese and German sausage,I love pigs trotter.Once the Channel Bridge is built it will ease the tunnel and close down the nasty Channel Ferry's too.We could raise extra taxes from the sale of Scotland, an increase from pensioners and maybe reduce the 45 pence tax to 30 pence to allow more investment from our top industry leaders.

That's right, we did change overnight in Sept 1967! It all went very smoothly, as a matter of fact people were so overly cautious that there were no accidents at all for quite some time. But there weren't that many cars around back then, and most people were at home fast asleep anyway.

I do like the idea of you changing to the RIGHT side, as opposed to the WRONG side. I also like the idea of cars, vans & motorbikes changing first to see how it works out as well :lol-061:

Thats Funny we have just been told here in Spain To help English Drivers out we are changing over to driving on the left

Good to be put right that things did go well on Sweden's changeover.
I don't think that it would go as well here with the amount of traffic we have on the UK roads.

As some British drivers are not very bright, I would suggest a three month transitional period when we all drive in the middle. Then it is an easy step to go over to the right. :idea-007:

why dont we just do the same as when we went metric (dont get me started on that one!!). All the oldies stick to the left, then as new drivers pass their test, they drive on the right!! This would have the added bonus of kulling off some of the oldies as they hit trees etc avoiding the newly passed youth's (with quicker reaction times). Servival of the fittest.

Great idea, should have done it ages ago, then i wunt ov got hit by that old g**
