Can anyone recommend a tyre pressure monitor, I need to fit one after getting a puncture on the rear offside wheel in Spain and not noticing it, I must have drove a number of kilometres before hearing a rumbling sound above my radio, it was to late though and I had completed distorted the tyre that meant it was not repairable.

If I had a monitor fitted an alarm would have gone off to alert me to the tyre pressure falling and I could have saved the cost of a new tyre by getting it repaired. I want something that can handle up to 80 psi. Is anyone using one that they would recommend, I see plenty on eBay but would rather go of recommendations.

On another note I had my motorhome booked in with Marquis this week for a habitation check and also some warranty work, I realise they are closed after looking at there website, but if I was running the business I would have the service manager ringing up customers reassuring them and rebooking them in for when they are open which I presume will be in June now, as opposed to doing nothing.

Hope it doesn't effect my warranty as it will be over 13 months now since my last habitation check.
 
Bit pricey, but I'd recommend the TyrePal Solar. I believe its good for 90, or maybe 99 PSI. Best check the spec. Have one on van and it works well.

I did have a much cheaper ( £25 wish ) one on car, from eBay, thought it was a bargain at first, but turned out to be rubbish, chucked it in the bin before it was a few months old.

When I used to tow a Smart car behind the van I used a Tyrepal system as not only was I worried about the Smartie trailer having a puncture but the van had dual wheels at the back and the inner wheel was a bugger to check pressures. The system was great and I felt much safer when using it. The only problem as I recall was that if you didn’t loosen and retighten the tyre valve cap monitors from time to time they became virtually welded to the valves and were really hard to unscrew.

Tyrepal on mine, works well enough for what it is. Does throw a bit of a wobbly at altitude and coming down with the brakes heating up the wheels and tyres - you need to set upper and lower tyre pressures and temperatures and the alarm goes off if it thinks your tyres get too hot.
 
Tyrepal on present and previous motorhomes.
No issues whatsoever and alerted me of a slow pumcture 2 years ago.

I had a Fit2Go system (now Michelin) but the tyre sensor batteries failed and are not replaceable. They expect you to buy new sensors. Whatever you buy make sure you can change the sensor batteries. Much happier with my new TyrePal set up.
 
C&CC brought a £220 six wheel set up down to about £175. It is CCCTYPL20.

Hi everyone, hope you are all well and keeping safe. I fitted my tyre pressure system today, can anyone advise what temperature perimeter one should set for the alarm to activate, also I noticed that it is only showing 49psi on the monitor when I know that there is 80psi in the back tyres and 70psi in the front tyres, the monitor is able to handle upto 99psi according to the instructions.

Also I seem to be only able to set the low pressure alarm at a maximum of 29psi, which I would prefer to be a lot higher to give me an early indication that a tyre is losing pressure. The instructions are quite complicated and I have looked at various Utube videos on setting these things up. Be greatful.if anyone can advise. Cheers
 
Does anyone know whether it is easier or harder to 'feel' a puncture on a track opposed to a sealed surface?
 
The monitor will not give accurate readings until you have driven the van a short distance. This may impact on the ability to set the low pressure alarm although I cannot recall the adjustment being difficult, just a bit fiddly. I cannot recall what I did regarding the temperature range, sorry, I have a vague notion I left it at whatever default setting was.
My monitor sits about 2’6” away from me and I have to say that the temperature figures are difficult to read. The PSI figures are fine and in my humble opinion the critical ones as I assume the temperature will only become critical as the pressure has dropped causing the sidewalls to flex and generate heat.
