Hello together! I’m quite new here. Has anybody experience with an overnight-stay at Beachy Head? I was told, that the Pub owner allows people (who ate there) to stay for the night on the parking place. (we are two ladies in a camper van.) Would you actually recommend a wild stay for the two of us? And - how safe is parking (at supermarket parking areas, while shopping) and camping in South-England. I would like to hear from you. Thank you very much!

Provided you are sensible about where you park safety and security should not be an issue.

The golden rule is to rely on your instincts. If a place doesn't feel right don't stay.

The first few times that you wild camp it is normal to feel slightly apprehensive. But the feeling passes quickly.

Certainly used to be a good stop over, but I’d call and check were I you.

As for staying in a motorhome/camper in a wild stay, Christ yes but as previously stated apply some common sense. It’s very unlikely that you’ll experience any issues, that said safety first please.

If you completely new to such and concerned I’d start with something like Britstops.

I live in the south and I think it is a difficult place to find overnight parking. If you joined as a full member you will have an app or sat nav stops that will help.
There are very few places on the coast I think. Most have no overnight signs.

I live not too far away and have seen plenty of vans there when I've driven past, but agree your best bet is to give them a ring - it's a biggish car park but easy enough to ask. Pub stops are a good way to ease yourself into wild camping, though not much cheaper than a campsite if you're paying for drinks and a meal. Wilding's generally safe, but if you get a bad vibe, just move on and find somewhere you feel more comfortable.

Over the years I have travelled extensively all over the uk on my own especially the south coast never had a problem worst I’ve had is horn honking when they drive past but as others have said listen to your instincts and park so your facing the exit so if you do have to leave a park up your not messing around in the dark reversing your vehicle.

You'll be fine, worst I had was not realising I had stopped in a dogging layby near Pen-y fan, a few cars turned up in the early evening and one guy got out and proceeded to walk round our van looking in the windows and playing 'pockets billiards' with himself 😵‍💫. We moved on1

Hmm, I mentioned this to a "friend" and he wants me to ask where this layby is, purely for research you understand! 😂

Well done! The poor ladies will not dare venture anywhere now! Or perhaps they will. 🤣
