Just wondering if anyone has joined and used this site.

just had a look at their site.. never heard of it before. Interesting.. but no good for us as we don't have a drive. Thanks for telling us about it tho.

Aire Driveways UK - The UKs No1 Site for Free Motorhome Camping Stopovers
Hmmm, great idea if you are on your way somewhere, We also park on the parents drive when we visit and several freinds when we visit and want to have a bevy or three, but I'm not sure I'm want to park on a strangers drive and sit out watching the sun going down unless they had several acres of space. The £10 joining fee also smacks of opportunism but maybe I'm not being fair, just seems to me that too many people see motorhomers as people with deep pockets. Be interested to know if anyone actually uses the site.

Just seen a sample "Driveway" and they want £5 a night for providing a hook up.

Some people!

Well even a 1 Kw heater all night is only just over a quid. Can't ever see how they would get to £5, and in any case, even if they did I'd be embarrassed to charge. They'll be asking £3 for the use of the hosepipe next, in which case, might as well go to to a CL for the night :p

That Aj's not coming to stop on my drive, he would use all the lecky, water, CDP, brecky in bed and drink all the Malt, then beggar off back to Worcester sauce land with a big grin on his chops;)

Happy Camping:)welcome anytime
Regards,
Bill and Angie.

My van and 2 cars on my drive, only just mind.

If i had the room I would let someone stay and I am sure most of us would

As we are helpful and friendly site :D and if you are stopping one night
why do you need leccy and as for charging people. they are having a laugh:confused::confused: just my opinion:D:D

Can't see this catching on, you have to pay to become a member so other people can park on your drive:confused: & they pay so you can park on their drive :confused::confused:

Just join the MCC (motorcaravanners club) & become a Safe Knight stopover. Same idea but it is for providing a safe night stop on your journey. Stopped at a nice one on our way down to Cornwall. We are also listed as a Safe Knight so if anybody is around the north wales area we have space on our drive.
They try to have a similar idea on the SBMCC but didn't seem to catch on.

The pub stopover site also seems good on the face of it but it seems that you are expected to buy drink or food in the pub (even there is no obligation to do so according to the rules BUT reading the forums unless you do use the pub theres nothing in it for them so its considered impolite at the least)

Great spot

I was looking at that idea with the MCC. There are lots of times we just want to pull up somewhere safe for a night, especially in an area where not really wild camping friendly. Stayed between Oswestry and Welshpool last Sat. It was a proper C&CC Hideaway site but was actually just driving into someone's hugh back garden. Lovely garden, nicely cut grass, lots of play area and football posts for kids, very quiet and only £5.50 per night.

Free ?

Just looked at site and it starts with

What is an Aire?
An Aire is an overnight parking space where you can camp for free.

No really true an aire is a place to stop overnight or for a couple of days but not camping (not leaving chairs bbq's awnings out etc.) some of these are free but some do have a charge.
Don't see any use for using somebodys drive except for a brief overnight stop. I don't mind anybody stopping overnight on my drive but don't think me or the neighbours would appreciate people camping on the drive.:eek::eek:
