Trying to get covers off front seats.

Hi,
does anyone know how to take the seat covers ( upholstery... Burstner ) off for washing ?

there seams to be a plastic rod at the back of them ... suspect something to do with that. Sorry if this is common knowledge .. I havent come accross it. thanks in advance

I think you should try treating it as though you are trying to disrobe a beautiful lady.
Start off slowly by having a gentle fumble aroung the back (act like you know what you're doing here) and try teasing it off.
This will probably fail after a few embarassing moments at which point do what most men would do, get fed up and angry when the fumbling fails and rip the bloody thing off caveman style. Not forgetting to throw it at the missus muttering that it'll need a few stitches after you've washed it, then you can sit in a huff in front of the telly not really watching it but seemingly deep in thought.

All the covers in my Burstner have zips and so I cannot help directly.

Why not try contacting Burstner about this?

Is it not possible to clean the seat covers in situ?

Might be a whole lot easier ...

Ok ... after much studying of a badly designed system I have sussed it and improved the design.

Heres how to do it ....

first yank the headrests off.

there is a plastic bar at the bottom of the seat back. yank that until the hook mechanism comes away. pull off seat cover.

the bottom part comes off by cutting the attached strings underneath and unclasping a plastic bar hook as above.

I have now slung them in a washing machine, dried them, stiched velcro where the stupid plastic bits were and put them back on the seats. They look like new.

to round off the beautiful woman analogy .... if you can't understand a complicated design, yank it off yourself and avoid the hassle !!!!
