Now lets try again last week i asked on here for some advice and had no luck.

I am trying to help a Spanish friend who lost his wife 6 months ago to get his life back we need to find him a small van to convert so he can come out with his friends for weekend trips. I know nothing about motors so what i need is views from you lot on what to look for please. And no jokes.:mad1: So far we looked at a Mercedes Vito no good 2 fords and a VW tonight he wants to look at a Hyundai H1. I have looked at the reviews on the internet but i would like any one that knows these motors for some advice or what other van to look for,
Thanks All Ken:cheers:

Hi Ken,

I will have a Fiat Scudo Combivan for sale end of August. It has a 2.0 litre JTD diesel engine. We have camped in this on many occasions - we put a double mattress in the back and hook a gazebo up next to the side door.

Last year I fitted a false floor so the mattress lays flatter and there is a 14" high storage space beneath for all the junk!

If needed the van comes with a rear seat for 3 people which makes a total of 6 belted seats.

I can send a photo if required - let me know if any interest.

No headroom in the VW's. I'd go for a Renault Master or Citreon/Fiat Relay type about 5m long or so.

Both great vans, headroom, nice and wide compared to merc/tranit/vw but also powerful and compact :)

Thanks a lot for the offer but we live in Spain so must be Spanish reg

Kenspain, can I suggest that maybe the lack of feedback you are getting maybe due to the fact that there are very few substandard vans manufactured these days, doesn't prevent endless arguments on which is the best van... never ending up with a conclusive consensus.
The deciding factor on choice is often down to availibilty of parts, ease of servicing, dealership standards etc. and most people on a UK forum aren't as a rule going to know much about the Spanish situation I would have thought.
Perhaps your friend would be better off asking on a Spanish forum??

All I ask first was advice on a Mercedes Vito because we were looking at one that an English man had for sale and i knew nothing about them until some onetold me about them on an other forum, we got the same help on a Spanish Forum i am sorry to say. but no worry's sorted now. thanks anyway:cheers:

It's just very hard to comment on older used vans, there comes a point where how they are looked after is more important then what they are.

Current opinion here is that Mercs are bad for rust atm.
This has come from several different sources.

Not sure how much of a problem that is in Spain........
