Does anyone have an original element in their shed for the combi 6 that they could take dimensions from, i have a company in Scotland that is going to look at manufacturing some for me.
I have spoken to Truma but she kept on referring me to a recognised agent. I'll wait until this freez is over before putting water back into the system to try heating water.
The only check I could do at the moment was switch the heating on and register what power was being drawn from the grid.
Before I went away over the holidays I plugged the van in for Christina to hover the van and put the electric blown heat on for a couple of hours to get the heat up to allow the frost stat to reset so I could fill with water. The van only got up to 7 deg It was later just before leaving I noticed that the water had been on eco without water in the system. The elements are external and not immersed in water and is the same elements used for the blown heat so may still be OK.
Everything was great on gas so no problems when we were away we did not have EHU anyway.
They look like the elements have the same rating as the 4e at 900 and 1800w on elec so if it's pulling anything around 1800w I would think they are both good. It does seem to take an eternity for them to get any sort of heat into the van when just on elec, when everything is down at freezing.

I assume these are being specifically designed to operate at the high sheath temperatures of dry elements not at the lower temperatures of wet immersion heater elements. I believe the Truma elements are made with high temperature alloys unlike immersion heater elements.

It would have been inconel, they can manufacture but not with these ends. I have found another UK manufacturer who produces them if I do need to replace.
