Truma B10 boiler

Hello to all,

Reference to a Truma B10 gas only, with many years of problem free service is now not heating water…
A week prior was working well…

What has been checked so far are:

The obvious cowl cover removed and changed gas bottle twice in case…

Checked all other gas appliances and had hob going to assure no air pockets plus heater

Realising I have low auxiliary battery I used engine supply for testing…

(on battery supply only, the boiler will not click but after seconds red light but with engine on makes the normal click but immediate red light)

Drained and refilled water in boiler

Removed cowl assembly to hover inside (there was a tiny web and dead spider)

The following morning went through the ritual once more, turned on power, removed cover, turned on/off gas on hob and this time (with engine on) turned switch to on which clicked and surprisingly no immediate red light…waited about 10 minutes but then the red light on…however turned hot tap on and water was warm…

Spent another hour attempting several times to no avail…will always immediately click and go red !
Problem where I live no caravan appliance service and on an island that’s a nuisance !

Any ideas well appreciated...greetings from sunny Mallorca

Is there a delay between you turning it on and the Clik say about 30 secs. If so it maybe the combustion air fan located at the very bottom of the heater some times a foreign body may jam it a sharp tap with a say screwdriver handle may just start it mine did for a while but eventually had to replace it heres what mine looked like so you know what to tap

Had this problem once, I phoned customer services, they said that probably an insect had crawled into the burner. I tried a compressed air line & powerful vacuum to shift it, but to no avail. After demolishing half the van to get the boiler out, I sent it back to Trauma (my miss-spelling), they found a dead spider in the burner was interfering with the air supply. They fitted new burner & sent the recon boiler back complete with old burner containing dead spider.

I never now leave the vent cover off when boiler is not in use, not after all that!

Another time, same problem, turned out it was the PCB, 140 quid, Ouch!

Yes the fan I eventually replaced was light enough for something like that to jam my vent is the round type I made my own cover as not designed for one used a short piece of 4" drain pipe with a split clips on and stays there

Truma boiler

Appreciate all the input…

Have thought about the nightmare of removing the boiler as it’s under the cloths cupboard nestling between the loo and a sitting bench…there’s a small lid I can open looking down at the boiler but only see pipes and drain valve…attempted removing boiler cover but won’t release from one corner and don’t want to force it…

Firstly didn’t realise a fan existed…never hear one…
What is the isolation valve and where is it? also not familiar with PCB…

As I believe my battery is low although on a trickle charger, all functioning and battery shows full, and in this procedure when switching to on will not click and 30 seconds later light comes on…on running engine mode, will click and immediately go red…

I’ve always had the cover on when not in use…but possibly insects may enter from the interior…

You won't have a fan unless your Truma is also a space heater, I think your's is just a water heater.

Isolation Valve......Look for a bank of 3 or 4 red taps, they'll be for the cooker, fridge & any other gas appliance, you'll probably find them in a cupboard.
