Truma 4e weirdness, a fault?

In very cold /damp weather i leave it on a very low setting on hookup at home. On better weather days i'd turn it off in my garage rather than go to the van. However, after a while it played up and would'nt go at all on gas or electric. The knob did'nt light up, nothing.
I struggled to find an official Truma mobile engineer, having to wait some time for an appointment. A few days before the engineer was due i went to the van to clear away stuff for access to the Truma. Major work taking the fixed bed and cabinets apart - thanks Rapido.
But, before i did that i twirled the Truma control knob - it started! Engineer cancelled (he was very grumpy) and no failure ever since. However, i now go to the van to switch it on or off before switchong off the mains. PV keeps the batteries charged, no point in having the mains on as well i reckon.
Does Anyone else's Truma do weird stuff?

I'd expect very little to be shared electronically between gas and mains electric operation so when it failed to work on either that particular symptom would lead me to look for a fault in things that were shared between the two and should lead to a pretty easy diagnosis. Silly question but did you double check that there was mains power at the van and the gas was turned on?
It could be that the heater doesn't like having the power reinstated while it's in the ON position, you'll have to repeat the 'turning off in the garage' sequence again several times and see if you can get the fault to reappear. If you can't get the unit to play up again you can bet your life it'll let you down half way through a holiday, maybe you should have let the guy take a look and a service while you had the beds out? Don't know what he'll say if you call him up again.🤔

Turning off the mains while the Truma is attempting to use it for heating would presumably put it into fault mode. Does the Truma remember repeated faults and effectively shut itself down?

I had a fault with temp sencer they get full of dust and need occasional cleaning sometimes they fail and need replacing ,
