Planning a trip to France later in the year and would greatly appreciate any advice re best route to take/good places to visit/aires to stop at avoiding toll roads. Proposed route is from Dunkirk to Portugal taking about two weeks to get down to Portugal. This will be first time taking on a venture like this so need all the help we can get!! Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi i just got back this afternoon from a quick trip to Belgium, just jumped on Dover to Calais ferry drove along E40 no toll didnt plan a thing,Easy! You might need an Aires book guide to help with your journey but we had no probs! Enjoy!!

... and have a search in the 'European' > 'France' section of this site. Lots of good info to be found there.

Easy!

Buy All The Aires book. It isnt all the aires but worth a tenner or so when you cant get on line.

Spend a whole day looking at www.campinginfos.com (set your IE to auto translate french to English and there are loads of Aires to find which are simply not in the Aires book and some are brilliant.

Spend another day before you go looking at Leo's (The Belgian) Wild camping posts for France on here.

Copy and paste them all into an itinary in Word or something and use Via Michelline or TomTom to find them.
