1. ROUTE PLANNING
A. - SATNAV is a must, the chance of missing a road junction is very high.
Even with a Satnav, we have had made 6 errors already, mainly because you have little opportunity to correct lanes, especially when dark also looking for verification sign of planned road is not always visible.

Using a map is good only for preparation of route, to understand Road ID'S and Town Names before entrusting SatNav.

Getting the correct town in the intended state is also a problem as you need to identify the State Identifier precisely.

SUGGESTION
Get an A4 size map showing all states and ID of each.

Practice SatNav use, on arrival.

We are using a Magellan, and although good in keeping up with your location as you move it, as most technology does, has occasional glitches to throw a curve ball at you.

Be prepared to hit detours - lots of infrastructure builds happening.

2. ROAD RULES
At a cross roads, different scenarios arise,

IF Lights controlled and if turning right And lights are Red, you may still turn as long as you stopped, and there is no sign [ Stop on Red ] telling you not to (usually hanging by light).

IF Lights controlled with you turning left, lights either Green or Yellow Arrow, then you must ensure it is safe to go.

NO LIGHTS
You MUST STOP, if sign says.
Rule is the first car that arrives can move off if safe to do so.
IF car is at junction, or pedestrian is crossing, they have priority.
On crossing with NO stop sign, usually in suburb or estate, then apply same rule above.

3. TRAFFIC
ALL vehicles can drive at maximum speed.in all lanes unless told by a sign not to.
Undertaking is permitted.

Lorries are merciless on interstate.

Beware freight train crossings, can be lengthy stop.

On mainroads with 2 or more lanes be careful of inside lane, cars and lorries will suddenly anchor up and turn with little or no warning.

4. SCHOOL BUS
DO NOT PASS, when stopped.
Not aware of different rules in every state but best not to try I suggest.

5. PARKING
It is expected for you to park in same direction of traffic.
Have not seen many not obeying this rule.

Watch for Parking Advice and signs.
Do not park close to corners. Normal practice really.

Lorries are longer than UK, they take a very wide berth.
