As it says in the title I've got a new project of a van I've had for 3 weeks now. 2010 Ex delivery van. 2.4 ltr Ford Transit with 107k miles on the clock. £3.5k I've never had a Ford. It's had a few scrapes but I'm not worried about cosmetics. Limited to 70mph so has never been ragged and bright yellow, which is a bit much to stomach sometimes but I'll get over it once I've got on with the conversion. I've never done anything like this before and am doing everything myself so am here to make sure I minimise mistakes. I've been all over youtube for inspiration and tips for everything from insulation and vapor barriers to electricory. I was on this site a few years ago or so. I had an old 207D merc camper, loved it. In hard times I used to run it with veg oil (when veg oil was cheap) with a squirt of petrol but the body was falling off the chassis so had to scrap it after 12 years of happy motoring. Then a VW 2ltr air cooled transporter which I hated. Too small, too juicy! I'm cataloguing everything I'm doing so expect regular updates. For now here's a couple of pics of where I'm up to. I put a skylight in today after watching youtube a lot. Black patches on the panels are soundproofing, I've used recycled plastic insulation from BnQ on top of that then I'm going to vapor barrier the whole thing. I'm going to use the existing ply lining for the walls and I've bought a thinner ply for the ceiling to keep the weight down. Pretty much got all the electrics ordered, solar panel kit, fuse box, cut off switch, batteries, carbon monoxide and fire detectors, etc. Not going 240v because the idea is to be totally off grid but that may change! I make no apologies for the long winded intro but do apologise for the pics being sideways. No idea!!!! 20170504_153337[1].jpg20170504_162943[1].jpg20170504_181447[1].jpg

Hi and welcome along to the site, I worked at City Link for 11 years, love that Yellow. If you need to match the paint it's the same as a 1970 Ford Escort Mexico, that's how the colour was chosen. City Link started in 1969 but only went yellow/green in 1970.

hello mate, re-240 v . i put a basic set up in the van, a smart charger and one double socket for when you're at home or round a friend's house etc. means you can have a heater or a 240 light etc

Hi and welcome aboard.
I've fitted 240v 'in case' but have never used it because the solar supply is enough.

Thanks

Thanks for lovely welcomes. Daytona or Mexico!!!! I think I prefer the Mexico as it was such an icon. I've gone over to the self build forum if you want to see my updates. :juggle:
