Transit camper project for sale

We bought a high-top Transit camper back in January for the sole purpose of me being able to stand up in it, (I'm a six-footer) our current ride is an ex-minibus and it's a bit of a struggle, especially with having a bad back as well. The interior was all there, cooker, fridge, sink and drainer, pump, zig unit, split charger, captain's chair, everything. But it was a badly done conversion, the cupboards were chipboard, the seating/bed was a mix of chipboard and ply and overall it looked a proper mess, so it was decided we'd strip it out completely and start again. As you'd expect with a 98 Tranny, we had some repairs to do once we got the flooring out, but it wasn't that bad, just the usual places around the rear wheel arches and a few bits in the cab area, which were duly welded, there's just one spot left to do over the top of the nearside door where water's got through the roof/windscreen seal, again, all too common. Anyway, due to illness and other problems, I'm way behind schedule with the work and now our friendly next door neighbor has reported me to the council for working on the van and they've told me to get it off their land or face some serious repercussions, possibly even eviction from our bungalow. It's all too much for me to cope with at the moment as my wife is suffering a breakdown as well and so I'm hoping someone will be interested enough to help us out. We paid £1350 for the van and have spent quite a bit to date having had the wheels sand blasted and powder coated in black, new tyres fitted, new front wings welded in and eight litres of Schuttz underbody protection sprayed on the underside. There are lots of extras with the van including a new microwave, an oil-filled radiator, a flat screen TV and aerial, a CD radio, a travel iron, pots and pans, crockery and an awning. It's a 2.5 non-turbo diesel banana engine, like the one in our other van and which will go forever and everything runs perfectly. The van is currently SORN'ed until December so would need to be transported on a trailer. We're looking for around £1500 for it but are open to sensible offers, but it HAS to go asap.

Sorry to hear about your woes, if you have photos of the van they could hep you with the sale, a discription is good but people like to see what they are buying.

Why can low life just mind there own business ??

Hope you get through this difficult time both of you:heart:. If I had the money and your van was automatic I would of bitten your hand off. We are after a transit to do up and if its got the basics that's a bonus.
I am sure you will find someone on here to buy it especially with all the added extra's ...I would say its a right bargain

Just a thought, have you tried asking any local farmers if you could store it in a barn? You may find one with power nearby & most farmers will be glad of a few quid extra for the storage fees.

How come the council can object to someone repairing their own car on the driveway? That just doesn't sound right.

Where does it say its on their driveway.? It must be quite a major breach of the tenancy agreement for the council to be able to threaten possible eviction.

It's not on the driveway, it's parked directly behind the house between a caravan belonging to another neighbor and our own camper The problem has arisen mainly because our next door neighbor is a thoroughly nasty individual who happens to be shall we say, a little economical with the truth. That, plus the fact that yes, I am indeed in breach of our tenancy agreement, unbeknown to me until today when I actually checked. The rules state that any vehicle kept on council land must be taxed, mine isn't, it's SORN'd and you are only allowed to carry out minor repairs, I've gone way past the minor repair stage. So fair play to them, I didn't realize I'd done wrong but that's my mistake and they have every right to be annoyed with me, even threaten me with eviction if I don't act swiftly. But I spoke today with the housing officer who sent the letter and after explaining our circumstances to her, she was extremely sympathetic toward us and quick to point out that we have nothing at all to worry about, so that came as a great relief. Also on a positive note, things have happened today which we could never have anticipated, namely that THREE other members of the forum have very kindly offered to help me finish the job. So on Saturday, the van will be loaded on a trailer and taken southbound, where hopefully, with four of us working on it together at weekends, it will all be done. We barely know the individuals concerned and we feel truly humbled to be among people who demonstrate this sort of generosity and kindness, it's been an emotional day for us, one we won't forget in a hurry.

What a fabulous outcome. I'm sure we all sympathised & wanted to help, but such a response so quickly & from THREE people is superb. Well done guys & another great example of why this forum is so good.

Please note, you are the council, you contribute fund these cretins. They are a huge quango of non producers. Tell them to piss off!!!

Not a sensible choice when they can evict you for non-compliance with their rules - remember one signs a tenancy agreement and have to obey the conditions on it.

I would say from what I have taken from post, if they can put pressure on OP for having van on, not their land, our land, why should tuggers be any different?

Sheds don't need MoT or VED paying, whether they have wheels or not, same as push bikes & prams really.

It would make it hard for someone to run a Classic or veteran car tho as they usually end up SORN'd from time to time. Maybe that's the approach to take, get a classic car club behind you?
