Hi. Any suggestions on what we should buy to tow my Toyota HQ ( About the size of a Smart Car ) Not sure wether we should get a car trailer or one of the A frames. We will be towing in Europe and keep geting mixed advice from the suppliers. Thanks

There have been quite a few threads on here discussing the use of A-frames.

I suggest you use the search option to read more ...

In many parts of Europe, contrary to what the A-frame suppliers say, they are deemed illegal. And you are likely to be stopped, fined and prohibited from using it.

Sorry to say this but If you want to come to Spain get a trailer my step son was only saying Sunday that they have been told that they are to book any motor that is towing another were the four wheels are on the ground and not on a trailer. Please dont try and wave paper at them saying they are legal this will Pee them of and the fine will go up, If the suppliers tell,s you that they are legal and will pay the fine if you get one get this in writhing. If your going to risk towing with an A frame make sure you have some that can drive the tow car for you and is insured to drive it. I have just helped on motorhome out over this and would not do it again.
Safe travel :goodluck:

Beware !!!!!
A-frames are illegal in most European countries. e.g; Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg, France, Germany, Spain.....
They are only allowed for emergency use and never on motorways !
Don't believe the British suppliers saying what is legal in the UK is also legal in other countries
